![]() This is straight-up choosing the abuser's side over the victim.Īll Might is known as the Symbol of Peace, yet what we’ve seen so far of him is not being able to put two and two together and often utterly neglecting the most obvious signs of something being wrong. I know people love to bring up the " culture of staying out of people's business" in Japan to defend the heroes never doing anything despite knowing about Shouto and Bakugou coming from abusive homes, but calling someone's brother " insane" is not staying out of their business. ![]() But could he really not have come up with a better, less offensive way of referring to Shouto’s brother? And sure, you could argue that he doesn’t know how Shouto feels and whose side he’s on, yet it still feels a bit aggressive either way. If All Might had said this to himself or other Pro Heroes, fine - they all share the same black and white thinking anyway, so they'd all agree and call it a day. If Shouto didn’t already relate to Dabi before, he sure does now considering they have now both been severely disappointed by their former hero. Shouto, Dabi’s little brother and fellow victim of Endeavor has to listen to this former Pro Hero writing his brother off as “ insane” - because what else would he be? I don’t know if this is just to show his determination, but I like to see this panel of Shouto at the end of All Might’s little speech as him getting ready to fight him. ![]() So who cares right? But then you look at who All Might is talking to here: Class 1-A. Writing him off as “ insane” is essentially dismissing his life story and the impact that Endeavor has had on him, denying him his victim status simply because of the villain label.īut here’s the thing: Dabi isn’t there. He was shaped by his environment, pushed to his limits until he almost died, and then eventually chose to avenge himself as a last resort since clearly, no one else would help him. Aside from that, considering Dabi’s broadcast spelling out for everyone exactly what his life had been like up until now and the hell Endeavor had put him through, it is incredibly inconsiderate to write him off as “ insane” instead of calling it what it really is: severe trauma. ![]() Overall, calling someone insane is not exactly a proper way of speaking about them so I don't think that needs further explanation. Starting out with the obvious: calling Dabi insane. Returning to the latest chapter, there are a few things worth mentioning. this was supposed to be a joke but thinking about it, some of these lyrics are actually a little too fitting oofĬould it be… maybe… possibly… talking… would have helped to realize this sooner? And I know we’re all comparing him to Elvis Presley ( outfit-wise only!) but “ Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen is definitely playing in the background here. And, to be honest, who can blame him? How would you feel if your boss had only just turned 21? And tried to stop your funky little performance?Īs a side note, I know Dabi’s flames are drawn that way to look hot, but to me, it looks like they’re sparkling, which honestly perfectly matches his new fancy little outfit. 「指図するな sashizu suru na」-> don’t command don’t tell someone what to doĪdding na at the end of a verb in its dictionary form is a commanding way of telling someone not to do something, in this case, it’s Dabi telling Shigaraki not to give him orders. In a most likely scenario, this is going to happen once they’ve been saved, but at this point, only the heroes ( including his own father, yikes!) still call him Dabi, so Shigaraki really needs to get with the times. People just saying “ Dabi” will always be my favorite thing, however, I do wonder at what point we’ll see him switch to calling him Touya.
